Doors - How to create door type

The Doors Page is where you can manage and create different types of sliding doors for your store. Creating a door type is the first step in setting up your door product catalog, which allows you to define various frame styles, colors, and track options available for each door type. This guide will walk you through the process of creating a new door type and configuring its various options.

 

Creating a New Door Type

  1. Navigate to Doors Page
    • Log in to your Shopify admin
    • Go to the Door Designer App
    • Click on "Doors" in the navigation menu

  2. Start Door Type Creation
    • Click the "Create New Door Type" button

    • A popup window will appear with the configuration form
  3. Configure Basic Settings
    • Enter a name for your door type
    • Select available frame styles from the provided list
    • Choose available frame colors
    • Verify track styles (these cannot be removed)
    • Confirm door sitting options (these cannot be removed)

  4. Save the Door Type
    • Review your selections
    • Click the "Save" button
    • The popup will close, and your new door type will appear in the list

Setting Up Door Prices

  1. Access Price Configuration
    • Find your newly created door type in the list
    • Click the "Edit" button

    • Navigate to "Edit Supplier Prices"

  2. Configure Pricing Parameters
    • Set your profit margin (percentage or fixed amount)

    • Enter GST/tax rate

    • Use the "Recalculate" button to apply changes across all doors

    Note: Add profit margin and GST values before individual door prices to avoid overriding custom prices

  3. Add Required Information
    • Look for items marked with a red "Required" badge
    • Click each badge to add:
      • Supplier prices for each door height and width combination

      • Door weights in grams for each combination

  4. Finalize Pricing
    • Review all entered prices
    • Click "Calculate and Save" to confirm
    • Prices will be automatically reflected in the "Door Pricing for Customers" page

Managing Door Pricing for Customers

  1. View Customer Pricing
    • Navigate to "Door Pricing for Customers"
      Navigate back to Door pricing for customer
    • Review calculated prices based on:
      • Supplier prices
      • Profit margins
      • GST/tax rates

  2. Review Price Calculations
    • Click on individual price cells to view:
      • Detailed price breakdown
      • Computation formula
      • Final customer price


  3. Verify Storefront Display
    • Confirm prices are correctly displaying in your store
    • Test the pricing display in the door designer
    • Ensure all combinations show appropriate prices

Tips and Best Practices

  • Always set up profit margins and GST rates before adding individual door prices
  • Double-check all required fields are filled before saving
  • Verify pricing calculations in the storefront before making the door type live
  • Keep track of your door type configurations for future reference
  • Regularly review and update prices as needed

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues while creating a door type:

  • Ensure all required fields are properly filled out
  • Verify that your profit margins and GST rates are correctly entered
  • Check that all door heights and widths are within the allowed ranges
  • Make sure you have clicked "Calculate and Save" after making any changes
  • Refresh the page if the interface becomes unresponsive
